Bapco Energies Concludes NextGen Power Camp as Part of the NBH Future Energy Leaders Program

Bapco Energies, the integrated energy company dedicated to powering the next generation and securing Bahrain’s long-term energy, has successfully concluded the NextGen Power Camp, a month-long development program for 100 high-achieving Grade 11 students. The Camp is considered a key phase of the selection process for the undergraduate track of the NBH Future Energy Leaders – Scholarship and Career Development Program.

Commenting on the conclusion of the Camp, Mark Thomas, Group Chief Executive Officer of Bapco Energies, said: “The NextGen Power Camp is an important part of our approach to developing Bahrain’s future talent. By combining academic preparation with mentorship, practical experience and exposure to the energy sector, we are helping young Bahrainis make informed choices about their education and future careers. The curiosity, creativity and confidence demonstrated by the students throughout the Camp reflect the potential of this generation, and we are proud to support their continued development.”

Throughout the Camp, participants engaged in academic readiness workshops, mentorship sessions, leadership development activities, and hands-on learning experiences designed to prepare them for future careers in the energy sector. They also heard directly from senior leaders through a series of fireside chats exploring education, career pathways, leadership and the changing energy landscape.  Sports and team-building activities further strengthened their collaboration, communications, and problem-solving skills.

The Camp concluded in a tradeshow exhibition, where participants presented projects developed throughout the program to an audience of industry professionals and senior company leaders, including Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, Acting Managing Director of Bapco Energies and Chief Executive Officer of Bapco Refining and Basema Almahroos, CEO of Bapco Tazweed. The project demonstrated their creativity, teamwork, and understanding of the opportunities and challenges shaping the energy sector.

Following the exhibition, a closing ceremony was held in the presence of senior executives, program organizers, and partners, including INJAZ Bahrain and BIBF. During the ceremony, all participants were recognized for completing the Camp, and awards were presented for the outstanding projects.

The NextGen Power Camp forms part of the undergraduate track of the NBH Future Energy Leaders Program, which is designed to develop the Kingdom of Bahrain’s next generation of energy leaders by supporting high-achieving Grade 11 Bahraini students as they pursue studies in disciplines relevant to the energy sector and emerging technologies.
