BCCI takes part in Gulf biz forum

A women delegation from Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry took part in the Third Gulf Business Women Forum themed “Challenging-Motivating-Enabling-Developing” held in the capital city of Qatar.

The forum in its third edition came in extension to its previous versions held in Muscat in 2012 and Manama in 2014, and in a bid to build on their outcomes and emphasize women entrepreneurs in the GCC, the challenges they face, their role in their economies, and offer some practical suggestions and inferences for policy makers.

Bahrain’s delegation to the event, held between December 1 and 2 under the patronage of Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani Chairman of the Federation of GCC Chambers, was led by Ahlam Janahi board member and head of the Promotion, Exhibition, and Conferences Committee.

The forum recommended encouraging establishment of business women alliances, creating a database under the umbrella of the Federation of GCC Chambers to facilitate the exchange of information amidst Gulf business women, establishing a training and consulting centre for business women, in addition to including business curriculums at primary stages of education.

Commenting on the forum, Janahi said, “Our participation came in a bid to liaison with our counterparts from the GCC, share our challenges, and propose solutions”.

Janahi also presented a work paper titled “Empowering Gulf Business women” in the first session which was themed “Challenges Faced by Gulf Women”.

The forum also included two other sessions on “Empowering Business Women:  Entrepreneurial Challenges” and “Motivating Business Women” which witnessed participation from top business women and deliberated about current issues of concern.
