Talks to safeguard marine resources

His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and the Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, met with Mohammad Jassim Al Dakhil, President of the Galali Fishermen’s Association, to address pressing issues concerning fish stocks and the fishing sector.

The meeting saw deliberations on challenges encountered by fishermen, alongside proposed solutions to safeguard marine resources and enhance the fishing profession. Highlighting the pivotal role of Bahraini fishermen in environmental preservation and national food security, the minister commended their dedication.

Dr. Bin Daina underscored the collaborative efforts of the Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE) in regulating environmental protection and resource preservation. Emphasizing the association’s responsibility in marine wealth protection, Al Dakhil expressed gratitude towards the minister’s endeavors in this realm.

He advocated for proactive measures against practices detrimental to the marine environment, advocating for stricter regulations and cooperation between stakeholders. The discussions underscored a mutual commitment to marine conservation and sustainable fishing practices, signaling a collective effort towards environmental stewardship and safeguarding fishermen’s interests.
