The substantial support received from the government and private institutions has empowered the “Smile” initiative to bolster its services for children battling cancer and their families.

Mr. Sabah Al-Zayani, President of the Future Youth Association, which oversees the “Smile” initiative providing psychological and social support to children with cancer and their families in Bahrain, expressed gratitude for the support, demonstrating Bahraini society’s unity and compassion towards pressing humanitarian concerns.

Speaking on World Childhood Cancer Day, observed annually on February 15, AlZayani praised Bahrain’s advanced health and treatment services for children with cancer, facilitated by the comprehensive healthcare system and the support of governmental and healthcare authorities, including the Supreme Council of Health, the Ministry of Health, and Government Hospital Administration.

Al-Zayani highlighted the fruitful partnership between the “Smile” initiative and various governmental and private entities, resulting in the launch of numerous programs and projects. Notably, the initiative recently renewed the Abdullah Kanoo Children’s Cancer Treatment Unit at Salmaniya Medical Complex, equipping it with state-of-the-art technology in collaboration with government hospitals.

He emphasised the initiative’s commitment to expanding its programs and services, providing an enriching environment for children with cancer, raising awareness, garnering community support, and organizing fundraising campaigns dedicated to serving affected children.
