Arrest warrants issued against absent witnesses

Arrest warrants were issued by the High Criminal Court against witnesses, who have failed to appear to give evidence in the trial of a man suspected of robbery. The Bahraini suspect is accused of robbing a pizza delivery motorbike with another unknown person. The accused is claimed to have placed a delivery order and gave a wrong address in Bilad Al Qadeem.

The bike was ridden by an Asian who was taken by surprise by the duo when he reached the given address. They reportedly attacked him with an iron rod as well as a knife while they were wearing masks. The accused was nabbed following investigations, while his accomplice is still at large. “We had initially stolen a mobile phone of an Asian man serving in a cafeteria. We used it to place the delivery order,” the suspect told prosecutors during questioning. “Then we stole the motorbike, but we didn’t physically assault the Asian who was riding it. I used it for only a few days, and then sold to another man removing the registration plates from it,” he added
