In an act of kindness, siblings have donated their hair to cancer patients in their hometown. Sansanna Sam, aged 16, and Sanoha Sam, 11, are students of the Indian School Bahrain (ISB).

Their mother said the children had been growing their hair and never had a dramatic cut since 2019.

The students received appreciation certificates from officials of Chethana Integrated Development Society, which is under Catholic Diocese of Mavelikara, for voluntary hair donation.

Sansanna is studying in class XI, while Sanoha is a grade 6 student. They are daughters of Samson Joy (DHL) and Ancy Samson, staff nurse at the Salmaniya Medical Complex Hospital.

The family, who hails from Kerala, now lives in Salmaniya. “Hair donation is a great gift to cancer patients who are facing mental and physical challenges due to the illness.

The donated hair will be used to make wigs for cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy.

The wigs will be distributed free of cost to financially poor female cancer patients,” said Dr Joshua Mar Ignatius, Bishop of Mavelikara, and Fr Joseph T, Director Chethana.

Their parents said: “We are so proud of our daughters for understanding this act of kindness at a young age.

We got inspired and motivated by some of our ISB students who are frequently doing such noble acts of kindness.

ISB Hon Chairman Prince S Natarajan, Hon Secretary Saji Antony and Principal VR Palaniswamy congratulated the students for their act of kindness.”
