Bahrain lose out by one point
Bahrain went down to a sixth succeessive defeat as they narrowly lost 81-82 to hosts Indonesia in a 9th to 12th place classification semifinal match yesterday in the 2015 FIBA Asia Under- 16 Basketball championships at the Pulogadung Arena in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The national team held a 24-16 lead after the first quarter and at halftime were still ahead at 40-36. In a reversal of fortunes, Indonesia won the third quarter 23-17 to edge ahead 59-57 with a quarter remaining.
Bahrain just edged out the final quarter winning 24-23 but agonisingly lost out by just a point at the end.
Top scoring for Indonesia were Muhamad, and Juan Maulana (15 points each) and Andre Rizqiano (14) and for Bahrain Baqer Ali (17) and Mohammed Abdulkarim (14).
Bahrain’s squad is coached by Aaron Mitchell and comprises Ali Salman, Mohammed Mohammed, Ayman Al Saffar. Hussain Ali (Shooting Guard), Hussain Ali (Power Forward), Fadhel Abdul Hussain, Baqer Ali, Noman Ahmed Khan, Hussain Mohammed and Mohammed Al Majed.
In the other classification match, Iraq beat Malaysia 75-49,and now play Indonesia today for ninth place, while Bahrain takes on Malaysia for 11th place.
Bahrain had previously lost to Philippines (98-58) and Thailand (65- 58) in the first round of qualifying, then in the second round to three-time defending champions China (85-43), Iraq (64-44) and South Korea (90-69).
The semifinals of the main competition are set for today and the final and third place play-off tomorrow.

(Quarter finals): Chinese Taipei bt Thailand 88-39, South Korea bt Lebanon 105-79, Japan bt Philippines 73-66, China bt Kuwait 103-42.
