New Online Service Tracks Large AC and Refrigeration Units
The Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE) has launched a new digital service for registering large refrigeration and air conditioning units, strengthening environmental monitoring and compliance efforts.
The “Large Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Units Registration Request Service” enables licensed facilities to register units with a cooling capacity exceeding 15 refrigeration tons, including industrial air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
The service supports the proper management of refrigerant gases through recovery and recycling, helping reduce emissions in line with Bahrain’s environmental legislation and the requirements of the Montreal Protocol.
It also provides a central database for facilities to search registered units and regularly update their information, enhancing monitoring, inspections and environmental compliance.
The fully automated service has reduced processing time from 20 working days to five days, while simplifying procedures and improving the user experience.
Professor Amna Hamad Al Rumaihi, CEO of the SCE, said the initiative strengthens oversight of controlled refrigeration materials, improves data accuracy and supports Bahrain’s obligations under the Montreal Protocol.
The service forms part of Bahrain’s government digital transformation efforts, which have seen more than 1,300 services documented and published, with 800 services developed and re-engineered across government sectors.
