HM King meets Manama Dialogue participants

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received at Gudaibiya Palace the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Administrator Helen Clark on the sidelines of her participation in the 11th IISS Manama Dialogue 2015, which started Friday in Bahrain.

King Hamad welcomed the UN official, hailing UNDP’s efforts and initiatives, which contributed to Bahrain’s competence in sustainable and human development, in the framework of good relations bonding Bahrain and the UN agencies.

HM the King also reiterated Bahrain’s support to the UNDP development programmes and initiatives.

King Hamad thanked Clark for attending the forum, which reflects the keenness of the international organization in addressing all views and visions that contribute to bolstering inter-state relations.

Clark paid tribute to HM the King for supporting the UNDP-led programmes and initiatives.

King Hamad also met other Manama Dialogue participants including US Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken, German Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al Jubair and British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Philip Hammond.

HM the King commended the solid bilateral relations the countries they represent have with Bahrain and discussed with them matters of mutual interest.

The three guests thanked King Hamad for the warm welcome and genuine hospitality, commending the Kingdom for hosting the Manama Dialogue 2015.

Earlier on Friday, HM the King met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, who visited the Kingdom to take part in the Manama Dialogue.

They reviewed the solid long-standing Bahraini-Egyptian relations, and ways to boost them in various fields. HM the King also voiced pride in the historical leading role played by brotherly Egypt in serving the Arab and Islamic nations, stressing that a strong Egypt is good for all Arab countries.

The Egyptian President thanked HM the King for the warm welcome and hospitality, praising the positive discussions on bilateral relations.
