Rise in rate of new drivers recorded
Almost 8’000 learners register for driving tests on a monthly basis in Bahrain, it has been recently revealed.
An official of the General Directorate of Traffic also confirmed that fewer learners failed the test since learning through the automatic transmission options were introduced by the beginning of the year.
In a statement to the press, Driving Learning Director at the General Directorate of Traffic Colonel Mohammed Al Binali said that statistics showed that a total of 68,358 trainees took the driving test last year. The Colonel asserted on the ever-increasing number of driving learners and reduction in number of those who fail their tests after the introduction of automatic gear cars in the learning process.
He said that currently there were 50 officials who conduct driving tests, while the number of driving instructors had also increased from 250 to 361.
“This has reduced the waiting periods for taking the test. About 4400 individuals underwent the sight test in one month, and 7,744 people were registered for the test on a monthly basis,” he added.
