HM King, HRH Prince Salman praised for empowering local press

Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh and Council of Representatives Speaker Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal yesterday hailed His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for strengthening the Bahraini press’ key role in the progress and laying the foundations for responsible freedom of opinion and expression. Chairman Al Saleh said HM the King praised the press openness witnessed by the Kingdom since the launch of HM the King’s Reform Project.

In a statement marking the distribution ceremony of the fifth Prime Minister’s Journalism Award, held yesterday under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Shura head lauded HRH’s great interest in the constant development and support for the local press and media work.

Al Saleh extended congratulations to the award winners, noting that their honouring crowns their dedicated efforts, and reflects the role of the Bahraini press as an effective partner in the nation-building process during HM the King’s prosperous era. He pointed out that the Prime Minister’s Journalism Award is a catalyst for press and media professionals to be more creative and innovative in preparing various media materials and raising purposeful and constructive national issues.

Speaker Zainal noted that the royal vision has been the first supporter of Bahraini press and journalists, making them basic and effective partners in developing and modernising the state of law and institutions. She also lauded the constant keenness of HRH Prince Salman to support the Bahraini press’ patriotic influential role. The Speaker recalled with pride and gratitude the late HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa’s support for journalism and journalists, paying tribute to the Information Affairs Minister, Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi, for his efforts to develop the press and media in the Kingdom.
