New air conditioners for Isa Town market

Isa Town market is to get a revamp as the Works Ministry is to install new air conditioning systems. A tender placed by the ministry for the works also attracted three bids, said tender board, the independent regulatory body charged with overseeing government bidding and bidding practices. The bids ranged between BHD 565,777.798 and BHD 1,364,660.000. Zamil Air-conditioning and Refrigeration services emerged as the lowest bidder.

The project comprises the design, supply, construction, testing and commissioning of the air-conditioning installation, associated electrical and civil works to the existing Isa Town Market supervised. Works are to complete in 15 months, which includes design and construction.

The tender also forms part of a project to develop the market, which calls for constructing corridors for the current market. The development came as the tender board opened 15 bids received for four tenders from four administrative bodies. A tender by the Ministry of Finance and National Economy said it requires maintenance of its printers and photocopiers and toners. The tender attracted seven bids ranging between BHD 3,311.700 and BHD 81,322.080.

Roubens Store was the lowest bidder. The committee also opened a tender for the Electricity and Water Authority for constructing concrete walls and guard rooms in three existing 400 kV electricity transmission stations.

Four bids received that ranged between BHD 952,350.000 and BHD 1,800,000.000. Mohammed Jalal Contracting quoted the lowest amount. The board also opened a tender in the oil and gas sector for the Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) for replacing steam turbines, which received a single bid from Elliott Turbomachinery of BHD 1,394,854.020.

The tender stands suspended. Representatives of the administering authorities and the companies participating in the tenders took part in the bid opening.
