BTEA successfully enhanced Bahrain’s position as wedding destination

The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) recently revealed that its past efforts to continuously participate in local, regional and international specialised events have succeeded in encouraging families visiting from the Arab region and beyond to select the Kingdom of Bahrain as their location to celebrate their special occasions.

BTEA’s strategic efforts in this regard are in line with its strategic aim of boosting the Kingdom’s position as a leading tourism destination for parties and weddings, and placing Bahrain on the world map of Island wedding destination.

In November and December alone, Bahrain hosted eight Indian weddings, where approximately 3,000 guests from both Bahrain and around the world attended, 2,400 of whom flew in via the Kingdom’s National Carrier, Gulf Air. These weddings, which were all organised by the BTEA, having coordinated the weddings itself, planning and logistics with local vendors, directly contributed 5.5 million USD into the national economy.

Commenting, Chief Executive Officer of BTEA, Mr. Nader Al Moayyed, said, “We are incredibly proud of BTEA’s achievements and their success in enhancing the Kingdom’s position as a leading destination to hosting weddings and other celebrations, and are delighted to announce that Bahrain will be hosting even more weddings in the coming months.

This comes as a result of the tourism sector’s advanced infrastructure which boasts 4 and 5 star hotels, in addition to dedicated F&B and entertainment sectors, as well as an abundance of event management companies with vast capabilities to create unique wedding concepts catering to client’s varied interests and tastes.”

“BTEA aims to encourage soon-to-weds to choose the Kingdom of Bahrain as their location for their wedding destination by playing a pivotal role in providing the necessary support to facilitate the organisational process from A to Z, which includes effectively coordination among formal and semi-formal entities to ensure they work as an integrated team, in addition to providing logistical support to suppliers and specialists in the field, such as Gulf Air to ease the travel arrangements for their guests” he added.

BTEA is continually working towards establishing the Kingdom of Bahrain as a leading destination for wedding and other celebrations, and actualising the Kingdom’s potential as a leading island wedding destination of choice by showcasing its advanced tourism facilities and infrastructure and unique combination of modern city life with leading hotels and world class restaurants nestled alongside old historical sites and landmarks.
