Funeral of 2 Bahraini soldiers postponed
Manama
Hundreds of people had gathered at Muharraq cemetery yesterday morning, as sources informed that the bodies of two martyrs, Hasan Iqbal Mohammed and Mohammed Nabeel Hamad, would be laid to rest after Dhuhr prayers (midday prayers).
However, sources later clarified that the funeral service has been postponed and it would be held after the Asar prayer, few hours later.
Even during the Asar prayers, a huge number of people, including a number of BDF staff, gathered at the mosque to pay homage to the martyrs. There was heavy traffic congestion around the mosque due to large number of visitors. Finally, it was announced in the mosque that the funeral services have been postponed to Sunday.
DT News spoke to some of the attendees. Among them was a retired Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) official Ismail. He expressed grief over the death of the young soldiers. But he said it is a matter of pride that they lost their lives fighting for a noble cause.
“I don’t remember them exactly. But I have seen some of them at BDF headquarters. I feel it’s my utmost responsibility to pay tribute to them,” he said.
