BIC begins receiving more than 600 tonnes of F1 cargo

Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) has begun receiving the massive amounts of cargo that will be used at the fast-approaching Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2019. Close to 300 large containers of equipment totalling over 600 tonnes in weight are being transported to the Kingdom of Bahrain for the Formula 1 extravaganza, which takes place next weekend from Thursday to Sunday in Sakhir.

These have been shipped on eight Formula 1 charter flights as well as various commercial and airfreight shipments, while nearly 100 of the containers were delivered as sea freight. The cargo is coming from Australia, where the FIA Formula 1 World Championship held its opening round last weekend, and also from Europe, where almost all of the 10 Formula 1 teams have their main bases.

The huge loads began arriving on the island earlier this week and will continue to do so until the day before the Grand Prix spectacle. The containers have already been placed along the main straight of the Grand Prix track, down the Formula 1 pit lane, and alongside the Formula 1 garage entrances and team buildings in the BIC Paddock, ready for the start of setting up.
