Camping popularity on the rise

Camping season in the southern governorate recorded a 75 per cent jump in registered users, which according to the Southern Governor also ended safely with 42pc fewer security cases and 25pc fewer accidents. The data was revealed by Southern Governor during a briefing to Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa in the presence of governors from all other governorates.

The minister issued directives to review the season’s report to tackle various issues to ensure more successful camping season next year. During the meeting which discussed governorates-related issues and projects, the Southern Governor presented a proposal to organise an awareness programme for the youth in the summer, including traffic and cyber awareness. The minister affirmed the importance of coordinating with the authorities concerned to organise those programmes.

HH the Southern Governor also presented a report on the governorate’s weekly majlis and the implementation of its various projects and suggestions in cooperation with the bodies concerned.  Muharraq Governor focused on the role of a community partnership between his governorate, the NGOs and clubs to run awareness programmes and projects to promote security culture and safety of all members of society.

The Capital’s Governor presented a report on his governorate’s efforts to strengthen the concept of community partnership and field visits. As the head of the committee of the Maan (Together) programme against violence and addiction, he also highlighted the success of the project and its expansion to cover sports halls and malls. The Northern Governor focused on the projects being carried in cooperation with the bodies concerned.

The minister highlighted the importance, for the governorates, of regular interaction with citizens and their integration with various organisations to meet the people’s aspirations and make them the main partners for development.  The meeting was also attended by the Assistant General Coordinator of the Governorates.
