Bahrain to participate in vital gcc-us summit

Manama 

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister will lead the Kingdom of Bahrain’s delegation to the GCC-US Summit in Camp David being held on May 13 and14.

Prince Salman will meet US President Barack Obama during the summit to discuss bilateral ties, regional and international issues of shared concern.

The summit will discuss key topics pertaining to the region’s security and stability, resolution of conflicts and exploration of increased cooperation in various fields between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)-members and the United States of America. 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Khalifa, said that the participation of HRH Crown Prince Salman demonstrated His Majesty’s keenness for the Kingdom of Bahrain to be fully engaged in participating in this historic summit.

The Minister opined that HRH the Crown Prince was the ideal representative of His Majesty the King at the summit to convey His Majesty’s directives and views to further bolster friendly relations between GCC states and the US. 

He said that Bahrain was keen to strengthen its deep-rooted ties of friendship with the United States at all levels. He exuded confidence that the Camp David summit would be a success and it would further develop the strategic ties in various fields between the GCC and the US.
