BTEA prepares to launch Hawa Al Manama event as part of Celebrate Bahrain
The Bahrain Tourism & Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) is in final preparations to launch Hawa Al Manama, taking place from December 25, 2020, to January 15, 2026 as part of the Celebrate Bahrain season. The event will feature a range of interactive experiences inspired by Bahrain as it was between the 1960s and 1990s, a time that witnessed significant cultural and economic transformation.
Sara Ahmed Buhejji, CEO of the BTEA said that the event’s setting in the old souq was especially significance because it reflected the historical importance of the capital, Manama, and the pivotal role it played in shaping the economic and social identity of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
“The old souq is one of Bahrain’s most important urban landmarks,” she said. “Playing a pivotal role in people’s lives, it holds a special place in the hearts and memories of Bahrainis and our brothers and sisters from neighboring GCC countries with whom we share historical ties and a common cultural identity. This was particularly true during the period being recreated by this event.”
She added that by showcasing the rich cultural and architectural heritage of the capital, the event adds diversity to the tourism experiences available in the Kingdom, in line with the objectives of the Tourism Strategy 2022–2026.
