Human development ‘very high’ in Bahrain

Bahrain is among the countries that fall under ‘very high human development category’, according to a UNDP report. The ‘Human Development Indices and Indicators: 2018 Statistical update’ released by the United Nations Development Programme, every year ensures consistency in reporting on key human development indices and statistics.

It includes an analysis of the state of human development— snapshots of current conditions as well as long-term trends in human development indicators. The 2018 Statistical Update presents the 2017 HDI (values and ranks) for 189 countries and UN recognised territories. The report gave a look at Bahrain’s long-term trends in human development indicators across multiple dimensions. Based on the overall statistics published in the report which included statistics on education, health, security, wealth and other aspect,

Bahrain was ranked at 43. The Kingdom earned a Human Development Index (HDI) score of 0.846. The United Arab Emirates received the best ranking at in the Arab region with a global rank of 34.

The UAE was followed by Qatar, which was ranked at 37 and Saudi Arabia (39) while Oman (48) and Kuwait (56) ranked lower to Bahrain.
