Isa Town primary school foundation work completed

The Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning has completed the foundation works of Isa Town Primary Boys School.
The Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for Construction Projects & Maintenance Mona Al Motawa revealed the construction works at the school’s ground floor are presently underway after the works for foundation and sub-power station were completed.
Al Motawa also revealed several details about the new BD4,884,672 school that is being built in Isa Town. According to Al Motawa, an area of 26.460m2 is dedicated for the construction of the school, while the total construction area is 16.626m2.
She said the four-storey school building would comprise of 35 classrooms, with a capacity to accommodate 1400 students. Al Motawa added all safety and security procedures have been taken in collaboration with the Civil Defence Directorate.
“The school includes multi- purpose laboratories for science, computer, home science and library, in addition to offices for the teaching and administrative faculty, sports hall, other service facilities such as toilets and store rooms.
The new building was designed based on the latest requirements of the Ministry of Education. This include sustainability, green buildings and energy-saving measures such as thermal insulation for roofs and walls, double-glazing windows to reduce noise, sensor taps in bathrooms, energy-saving lighting systems, acoustically insulated vinyl flooring, and paints with low-volatile and anti-carbon organic compounds for walls,” Works Ministry stated.
“The school has been supplied with fire detectors, extinguishers, intercom systems, CCTV cameras and all other electrical requirements.
The total electrical load for the project is 2300KW; supplied by the generators room. The school will also be supplied with all mechanical services including water pumps, water tanks, heaters, drinking water coolers, taps and other services.
The design also takes into account facilities needed for students and staff with special needs and also pregnant women. This include a special parking lot close to the main school entrance, slopes on all entrances, non-slip vinyl flooring in all rooms, corridors and stairways, in addition to four elevators close to all entrances. Eighty parking spaces will also be provided, 60 of which would be for the faculty and the rest for visitors and parents. An AC waiting area is also being offered,” the Ministry said.
