Santana brings back the seventies vibes

Filling the air around the Bahrain International Circuit with the sounds of blues-based guitar lines, yesterday’s action-packed day at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) came to a melodious conclusion when music maestro ‘Carlos Santana’ took centre stage and lit the F1 Village in a trance of musical vibes and rhythmic beats.

Thousands of excited fans had shown up to catch the guitarist and singer live in performance, who was on his debut visit to Bahrain, as part of his ‘Divination Tour’. The legendary singer, who is celebrated for his ‘world music’ as he experiments with blending many styles of music from a multitude of sources, rocked many of his award winning compositions and it was a complete crowd pleaser. Music fans and F1 visitors made the most of this defining concert and the large crowed consisted of people of different age groups and backgrounds.

Santana has sold more than 100 million records and has more than 100 million fans, which is why it wasn’t surprising to see the whole vending area filled with eager fans that were already lined-up around early in the evening around the stage to catch a glimpse of their favourite musical genius in his complete element. Even spectators from the new generation were keen to be a part of this memorable performance. Speaking to DT News, eleventh-grader ‘James Lot’ stated how he always listened to Santana in the car when his driver used to drive him to school during his childhood days. “The music grew on me and I have been listening to it ever since. I was so excited to learn he will be performing in Bahrain and this is one concert where I knew my dad and I would equally enjoy. It was amazing.”

The concert went for 2 hours straight as Santana performed his passion-infused songs from over four decades of his career, including his hits from Woodstock to Supernatural and beyond.  The musical showdown will continue today as the stage will be taken by American musician ‘Benjamin Booker’ and English electronic music duo the ‘Disclosure brothers’  later tonight.
