Captain Qamar Saeed, Awan Warriors

1. How Important is the match today?

The match is very important for Awan Warriors; huge planning is done before every match. The team is selected only after analysing the strength and weakness of the opponent team.

Cricket is an excitement both to play and watch. The game also encourages team spirit, fosters discipline, helps build up a character and brings out leadership qualities. The game is also a good specimen of the division of work. Every player has a specific job to fulfil.

2. What’s the strength of your team?

For the BPL matches, Awan Warriors team has always been looked upon as the batting and bowling powerhouse with the likes of Imran Butt, Fiaz Ahmed, Yasir Nazir, and many more. The team had even then the best batting line up in Bahrain.

Finally, my conclusion is that apart from batting which got slightly better, the major improvements are in bowling and fielding. These differences are now having a huge impact on the results, which are getting in our favour and Awan Warriors is now a team waiting to become the champions.

3.  How did your preparations go?

Proper preparation is essential for improving performance. Cricket is no different to life: Teams and individuals operate best when they feel in control of a situation. Consider every aspect of your preparation and keep a note of what works best. Think about how conditions will change your tactics. The team should arrive an hour before the play. Preparations starts with an assessment of the ground, pitch and weather, particularly wind strength and direction.

Top-order batsmen will receive throw-downs, while bowlers will bowl to the wicketkeeper.

4.  Do you think cricket is gaining popularity in Bahrain?

I think BPL T20 Cricket could become massive in Bahrain as it takes less time compared to other formats and is a lot more flashy/fancy thus more likely to attract attention/crowd. I think BPL T20 does have an opportunity to take off in the Kingdom but need to make smart use of specific regions in which there is already an interest in cricket among expatriate and local communities.

Captain Tahir Dar, Intex Lions

 1.   How Important is the match today?

This is a very important match for me and my team as well, as this is a first BPL happening in the Kingdom. I am feeling so privileged and honoured to be part of the top two teams in the tournament. No one can take this privilege back from you and on top of that, if you are the winner, you are the first champion of the first BPL in the Kingdom.

2.  What’s the strength of your team?

The strength of our team is to play with unity and enjoy each other’s successes and support each other in bad time. The guys are positive and enthusiastic to play the final today.

3.How did your preparations go?

Preparations are going well. Had a fitness session on Tuesday and a net session last night and discussed plans for today’s game. Guys are fit and energetic and ready to fight for the win in the big game. In Sha Allah will put our 100% efforts to win the final of BPL 2018. My special and sincere congratulations to the management and the organisers of the tournament and especially to KHK sports for conducting such a great tournament in the Kingdom.

4. Do you think cricket is gaining popularity in Bahrain?

Yes, indeed it is a great step for the game of cricket in the kingdom.  In going forward, we can improve more and more.... I must say it’s a fantastic tournament ever I played in my cricketing career in the Kingdom.
