Five years prison for a man who brutally abused his seven-year-old child

The appeal of a man has who has been sentenced to five years in prison after he brutally beat up his seven-year-old son that led to 100 per cent permanent physical disability and 57 percent mental disability to the child, has been refused by the High Appeal Court.

Yes, it has happened here and I’m confident that there are many cases similar to this, cases we know about and cases that may have not be even reported yet.

To beat your child to the extent of causing permanent disabilities means leaving a child at the age of seven, physically and mentally dead. Can he ever play with his friends? Play with his own toys? Go to school? Regardless of how the disabilities can be treated, the fact remains that this child has been deprived of the right to live a normal life and has been traumatized for good by a figure that is supposed to be the man in charge of taking care of him, feeding him, giving him love, embracing him and giving him a life.

In this case, a life has been taken away. The life of a seven-year-old child.

A child who was doing great up to the first grade, due to being repeatedly brutally beaten up by his father is now just a body lying on bed in a hospital, breathing and eating though artificial respiration and food intake..

We need to closely look at this case, analyse it and as adults do something about it. Children cannot be put at risk. No child should be deprived of a safe and healthy life. What can we do to prevent similar cases in which parents may believe they can get away with being violent with their children.

Don’t we all have a social responsibility?

This is just a case that was exposed because it led to physical damage and there are so many cases that children do not report. Unfortunately mums or dads do not report either. This an issue of public concern and the society should all stand together to stop such violations of children’s rights.

We are great at raising political slogans that raise our voices. We believe that our voices need to be heard and that is truly a national responsibility and I completely support that. Others went out to the streets and served the agendas of other countries when they called for changing the regime but we always fail to raise our voices when there are social issues that needs to be addressed.

Democracy isn’t just raising your voices regarding political issues but also raising your voices and expressing what you think when it’s about a child that could’ve been killed by a heartless brutal father.

There are people who wish to have a child and there are others who do this to their own children!!

On Sunday, Ill share with my readers, the story of the nine-year-old boy who was beaten up by his father and I saw him on a highway and took him to the police station two years ago.

This is why I insist on saying there must be cases that aren’t reported. Our children are gifts from God. If their parents can’t protect them, we as a society should.
