Frist NGL centre opens in Bahrain

Manama : National Geographical Learning (NGL), a Cengage company, has opened its first resource centre outside North America and Europe in Bahrain to help students develop their language and skills.

The move, in association with University of Bahrain (UOB), is expected to benefit up to 3,000 students daily.

The opening ceremony held on 6th November 2017 was led by President of Cengage International Alexander Broich and UOB president Professor Riyad Hamzah.

The new centre is a state of the art facility that enables students to accelerate English language development through a combination of technology and 7000 new books provided by NGL. Students will have access to the centre and its learning resources through a combination of direct access and online platforms.

“Through the NGL resource centre, we are able to help improve our students’ English language skills but also enhance their critical thinking and creativity in a vibrant and state of the art setting,” said President of UOB, Professor Riyad Hamzah, while commenting on the deal.

Alexander Broich, President, Cengage International said he is “excited to provide access to quality English language learning materials for local students.”

Presidents of other universities in Bahrain attended the opening of the center, as well as NGL contributors. Joining were John Hughes, NGL teacher, teacher trainer and course book author, and Donald Freeman, Senior Advisor for the NGL ELTeach professional development initiative, and a Professor of Education at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
