Executive-legislative rapport hailed by PM

Manama

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa praised the Parliament’s cooperation with the government during the first session of the fourth legislative term, citing its approval of the most important government’s projects –the Government Action Plan and the general state budget 2015-2016.

“Government-Parliament coordination and cooperation have proved successful in many key issues. Such an approach is the main guarantor for optimal dealing with the economic and security challenges without any effects on the national march and the gains of the citizens,” he said, while speaking in a meeting with the Speaker of the Council of Representatives Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla at the Gudaibiya Palace yesterday.

“We constantly review our strategies to ensure they meet the requirements of the local and international economic developments. When we issued directives to reduce expenses, we decided to cut spending on the domestic and external work of the government, without affecting the citizens’ gains,” the Premier added.

Conveying the appreciation of all MPs to HRH Premier for his keenness to ensure that citizen-oriented decisions are subjected to the consultation between the government and the Council of Representatives, Al-Mulla said: “It’s an approach that reflects his wisdom, enhances the parliamentary experience and entitles the Bahraini democracy to be an international role model.”

Al-Mulla also valued highly HRH the Prime Minister’s order to put off the implementation of the decision to lift subsidies on meat for a month for more studies on ways to apply it to preserve the citizens’ gains.

The meeting also touched upon the government’s stances and policies towards the regional and global developments. HRH Premier reiterated the kingdom’s support to international efforts to consolidate security and stability, and cooperation with brotherly countries to put an end to interference in the internal affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Arab states.
