Abu Dhabhi:  Anwar Gargash , the diplomatic advisor to the UAE President said the UAE was the main target of Iran’s attacks during the recent 40-day conflict, describing the scale of strikes as “illogical and unjustified.”

Speaking at the Dubai Press Club, he revealed that more than 2,800 missiles and drones were launched at the UAE, with 96% successfully intercepted by its advanced, multi-layered air defence systems.

He said Iran believed the UAE was an “open field,” but the country responded with “efficiency and superiority,” maintaining normal life, stable supply chains, and strong financial systems throughout the crisis.

UAE is one of Iran’s top trading partners and the relations have been strained by the attacks, he said.

Gargash said Iran is now attempting to rebuild regional ties, but warned that it had “targeted those bridges” itself. He added that while several Western countries offered strong and early support, some expected allies were slow to respond.

He also noted that under the leadership of Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE had long prepared for threats such as missiles, drones, cyberattacks, and terrorism—helping it emerge from the conflict stronger, more resilient, and ready for any future escalation.
