NBB executes first e-wallet transaction via BenefitPay

Manama : In a record setting milestone, National Bank of Bahrain, has successfully executed the first electronic wallet transaction in the Kingdom using BenefitPay . 

The national mobile electronic wallet BenefitPay uses QR codes technology to facilitate payments, allowing consumers to purchase items electronically through their smartphones without the use of cash or a physical card, ensuring their convenience and security.

In the live implementation, the BenefitPay App was downloaded onto a smartphone and users’ information including debit cards details were added. The QR code was then scanned using the same smart phone and electronic payment was enabled successfully in a secure and easy manner. This implementation was also conducted through one of NBB’s merchants. 

On this occasion,Abdulaziz Al Ahmed, General Manager – Retail, Commercial & SME praised the enterprise’s aptitude for adopting the latest technological advances in the field of mobile payment solutions.

 Commenting on this, Al Ahmed said: “NBB endeavours to enhance electronic payments in a way that reduces the dependence on cash. This falls in line
with the Bank’s digital transition to improve the level of services provided to customers in order to meet their expectations and aspirations”.
