Court upholds ruling in robbery case
Manama : The High Criminal Appeals Court has upheld the one-year imprisonment given to a Bahraini man convicted of robbery. The defendant was put on trial after he was arrested in connection with robbing the handbag of a Chinese woman in Hidd.
The victim reported the incident to the Muharraq Police Station, stating: “I was walking near a renown supermarket in Hidd, and two men riding a motorbike passed by me. Suddenly one of them snatched my handbag and they fled the scene”.
Intensive investigations were conducted to identify the culprits, during which the footages of the CCTV cameras installed near the area of the incidents were reviewed. Detectives identified the perpetrators of the crime. Both of the men were sentenced to one year behind bars each, but only the appellant challenged the initial verdict.
