Man drives car with kids in open boot

Manama : A man was found driving his two children in the open boot of a car yesterday, putting their life at great risk, an eyewitness said. 

“It was around 6:00 pm at the Diyar Al Muharraq road when I spotted the car with the kids in the open boot of the car. There were two kids in the boot while the parent drove the car,” the eyewitness told DT News.

“The area has no security available and the only security that is available is at the entrance of Diyar Al Muharraq. The sight was extremely shocking as the children was found sitting in the boot with their legs down,” the eyewitness added. 

“We urge the parents to drive as per the rules and regulations to ensure the safety of their kids as well as themselves. A lot of parents think that it would be fun for the children, neglecting their kid’s safety without realising that anything could happen, Lt- Colonel Osama Bahar, Director of Traffic Culture said.

“We will follow up the incident and take the necessary action. Strict action would be taken if parents continue to drive with their kids in the boot as it is absolutely prohibited. This is not only a violation of traffic rule but also a violation of human rights. We insist the parents drive by keeping the Kingdom’s rules and regulation in mind without compromising the safety of any individual,” Lt- Colonel Osama Bahar added.
