Travel ban violation case adjourned

ManamaA Bahraini man reportedly tried to circumvent a travel ban imposed on him using his brother’s ID card, the High Criminal Court was heard. 

The defendant was aware that he was on the the travel ban list. Thus, he presented his brother’s ID card to customs officers at the King Fahad Causeway to complete departure procedures.

However, he was reported to police after noticeable difference was spotted between his facial features and the photo of the ID card. The defendant, nevertheless, denied misconduct, stating that he was heading to UAE and wasn’t aware that he was on the travel ban list.

When asked about why he used his brother’s ID card, he attributed it to the traffic jam on the Causeway and nuisance. The defendant was charged with using an official document in bad faith. Judges at the High Criminal Court yesterday adjourned his case to September 10 for the closing arguments.
