HM King: fairness key to progress

ManamaHis Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa yesterday lauded Malaysia for its balanced approach, tolerance, fairness, moderation, adherence to peaceful coexistence and cultural and religious pluralism. 

“This is an approach that our country has always adopted to preserve its achievements and to thwart the threats to progress and stability,” HM the King said while speaking at a state banquet hosted in honour of him by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V at the national palace - Istana Negara - yesterday. HM, the King was received by Sultan Muhammad V and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on arrival at the palace. 

Appreciating Malaysia’s active participation in the Islamic coalition forces and joint defence to confront extremism and terrorism, HM, the King reaffirmed the Kingdom’s readiness to cooperate in the fields of trade and investment and to make every possible effort to stand with Malaysia to open new horizons to grow and  prosper.

Faster implementation

The King also promised faster implementation of agreements and memorandums of understanding being signed in the field of defence, air services, oil and gas, in addition to cooperation between the chambers of commerce and industry.

 “We are deeply honoured and delighted at visiting Malaysia and meeting HM Sultan Muhammad V who contributed greatly to his country’s development, security and stability. We would like to express our admiration for the landmark achievements, progress strides and conciliation between religious authenticity and modernization for the sake of all Malaysian people,” HM wrote in the VIP Guest Book.

The two monarchs held a meeting during which they reviewed bilateral relations binding the two countries and peoples, before exchanging commemorative gifts.
