Batelco backs National Broadband project
Manama : Batelco yesterday announced that it is fully committed to the delivery of high-speed broadband services, in line with the aspirations of the Government of Bahrain.
The company said in a statement that it aims to provide Internet access speeds of not less than 100 Mbps for up to 95 per cent of homes in Bahrain and speeds of 1Gbps for all government and businesses entities.
Commenting, Chairman Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa said, “Batelco is supporting the project to establish the National Broadband Network using fibre technology.”
“The move is in line with the Government of Bahrain’s 4th National Telecom plan which was approved by the Council of Ministers headed by His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister and led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister under the directive of the Kingdom’s leadership,” added Shaikh Mohamed.
