Driving schools to be set up in private sector

Manama : Driving schools will be established in the private sector to meet the increasing public demand to learn driving. The decision comes after the government rejected a parliamentary proposal to increase the number of driving instructors.
Justifying that the number of licensed instructors has increased significantly, the General Directorate of Traffic stressed on privatising the sector and allowing specialised establishments to open driving schools in the private sector.
“Developing this sector will be through opening specialised private driving learning schools. The criteria and special requirements for these institutions are currently being finalised,” the directorate mentioned in its reply to MPs.
The directorate also reiterated that it’s not considering changing or dismissing the existing 400 Bahraini instructors in the Driving Training School in Aali, the only driving school in the Kingdom.
