Teams gearing up for GCC Games

Manama : Bahrain has stepped up its preparations for the upcoming GCC Women’s Games, which takes place in Doha later this month.

The fifth edition of the games is scheduled to run from March 7 to 17 as Bahrain looks to win the event for a record third time, having won the 2013 and 2015 games held in Bahrain and Oman, respectively.

The games will feature 13 sports in total – handball, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, taekwondo, shooting, athletics for people with disabilities, chess, fencing, bowling, tennis, athletics and equestrian.

Teams like basketball, handball, volleyball, fencing and table tennis will all be spearheading the nation at the most prestigious women’s sports competition in the Gulf region.

In the most recent training sessions witnessed by Bahrain delegation head Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa as well as other senior delegation officials, Shaikha Hayat, the Council for Youth and Sports Deputy General Secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) board member and Women’s Sport Committee chairwoman, met members of the teams and was acknowledged on their preparations prior to the games.
