Terrorism: Trial adjourned
Manama
The High Criminal Court adjourned the case of 17 persons accused of forming a terrorist group, until October 27 after the prosecution witnesses failed to appear in the courtroom.
The group’s major activities include arms and grenades production, and it was busted in February this year, according to court files.
The first and second accused, living overseas, reportedly funded the group's terrorist activities. They are currently being tried in absentia.
The group was responsible for blasts across Maqaba, Janabiya, Budaiya and Qurayyah, causing injures to many policemen, according to a statement issued by the Terror Crimes Prosecution.
The statement also indicated eight members of the group were nabbed, while nine of them, including the first and second suspects, are still at large.
