‘Instill new spirit into US relations’

ManamaPriority must be given to joint strategic interests within a unified GCC policy while dealing with the new US administration led by President-elect Donald Trump, said Prime MinisterHRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa. 

The Premier called for the need to “inject a new spirit” into the relations with the US to ensure the consolidation of security, peace and development in the region.

The Prime Minister stressed that the new US administration will be a new opportunity for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to bolster bilateral relations and build on them.

Prince Khalifa made the statements while chairing, at the Gudaibiya Palace yesterday, a work meeting which discussed the latest regional and global developments. 

The Premier stressed the importance of collective coordination and cooperation to optimise GCC gains with the new US administration.

HRH the Premier affirmed that GCC-US relations, in general, and Bahraini-US ties, in particular, are deep-rooted, and that bilateral ties should be stronger and more stable.

GCC countries are allies and essential partners to the US in supporting security and stability across the region,” Prince Khalifa said while directing the relevant sides to come up with a comprehensive vision that ensures progress despite the global economic and political challenges.
