National Day Race a big success

ManamaThe National Day Endurance Race, which featured an elite group of jockeys, including Bahrain Royal Endurance Team and local stables was held presided by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, Honourary President of Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation.

The race over 120km included female riders from Bahrain, GCC states, France and the US.

Topping the podium at the end of the race was Al Zaeem Stable’s Shaikh Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa who clocked a total time of 4 hours:37 minutes and 34 seconds riding Kelallie De la Cure at a speed of 25km/ph.

Following on was Al Hareth Khalid Al Mutawa (5:10.00) of Al Asayel Stable and Khalifa Jamal Khamis (5:22:30) of Victorious Stable who came in second and third respectively.

The winners were presented with prizes by Shaikh Duaij bin Salman Al Khalifa, member of BREEF Board and President of the Endurance Committee at the end of the event.

Shaikh Nasser praised the level of competition and development of endurance sport in Bahrain and competing for top honours at international events.

The event featured several members of the Bahrain Royal Endurance Team affiliated with the Bahrain Defence Force.

“The participation of the Royal Endurance Team members who are serving in the Bahrain Defence Force came as an initiative to pay homage to our brave Bahraini martyrs who sacrificed themselves for the country, setting an example for everyone to follow,” Shaikh Nasser said.
