MPs call for raising salaries by 20pc
Manama : Lawmakers have urged to raise the salaries of Bahrainis working in the public sector by 20pc.
The development comes as the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives approved a draft law that amends job grades and wages.
The draft law, which was previously presented to and rejected by Shura Council, stipulates an increase of 20pc of the basic salaries of Bahrainis working in regular, specialised, executive and academic job grades in the public sector.
Majority of MPs approved the draft law during a regular meeting held in 2014. However, it was halted by the second branch of the Legislative Authority, Shura Council.
This time, MPs will vote on the committee’s recommendation to pass the draft law on Tuesday.
