Six hours of Bahrain

Manama : Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) is set to host one of the biggest weekends of international motorsport ever to take place in the region, with its first motorsport festival from November 17 to 19.

It will be the first time such an event will be taking place at “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”, as the worlds of Le Mans endurance racing and top-class karting come together for an epic weekend on track.

In addition, off-track entertainment entitled Action-Ha – organised in cooperation with popular satellite broadcaster MBC – will be held as part of the festival’s programme.

“We look forward to welcoming the WEC family back for the Bapco 6 Hours of Bahrain, and as the season-finale, there will be plenty to fight for across all the teams. Just around three years ago, we had Max Verstappen racing at BIKC at a similar CIK-FIA world championship event; now he is mixing it up with the stars of Formula 1. It is tremendously exciting to know that one of the stars of tomorrow will be amongst us racing” BIC Chief Executive Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa said.

The Porsche GT3 Cup is the most popular one-make championship to come out of the region. Top names from across the Gulf and wider Middle East race in identical Porsche GT3 Cup cars at top tracks in the GCC, including the series’ home track at BIC. The MRF Challenge, on the other hand, is an India-based single-seater series boasting plenty of young talent from around the world.

Off the race track, Action-Ha will include a wide variety of shows, including a car exhibition, a series of live concerts featuring popular global and regional artists. Action-Ha is widely popular with motoring enthusiasts in the Middle East, and it is sure to add plenty of colour to the weekend’s off-track activities.
