Woman’s jail term upheld
Manama : The High Criminal Appeals Court upheld the sentence issued against a Bahraini woman, who was found guilty of consuming narcotic pills.
According to the case, the 42-year-old woman swallowed 22 pills she stole from the nursing room in the prison where she was jailed.
She had been serving 10 years in prison in another drug case. In the latest case, she was given one year behind bars besides BD500 fine.
The defendant said that she had decided to take the pills under stress after she got engaged in a brawl with her family during their regular visit to jail. The defendant’s criminal record contains eight complaints, including having sex with a girl inside a car, and traffic violations.
