Bahrain jails 20 men in bomb case

Manama : The Supreme Appeals Court has upheld the sentences of 20 appellants implicated in a bombing case. 

Earlier, eight of them had received 10 years imprisonment each, while the rest were given three years imprisonment each.

Thirty-one defendants were put on trial in connection with an explosion happened in the village of Duraz in 2014. They received jail sentences ranging between three and 10 years.

According to the court documents, the defendants participated in a riot before they triggered the bomb in an attempt to murder cops.

They also hurled firebombs and iron rods at police officers. 

The bomb was reportedly planted near a local park in the village and it was detonated. But no human losses were reported following the explosion. 

The Bahrainis were held guilty of rioting, possessing firebombs and  detonating a bomb.
