‘Deep-rooted Bahrain-UK ties should lead to more investments’

ManamaPrime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to strengthen relations with the United Kingdom, recalling the long history of bilateral ties that extend to 200 years.

Prince Khalifa was speaking as he received the UK Ambassador to Bahrain Simon Martin at the Gudaibiya Palace yesterday.

The Premier said that the deep-rooted relations should lead to more investments and urged investors in Bahrain and the UK to avail of the stimulating investment atmosphere and the promising economic opportunities in the two countries.

Reviewing the latest regional and global issues of common interest with the UK envoy, he lauded the advanced level of cooperation between the two countries on facing the current threats to the regional security.

HRH Premier added that maintaining security is a collective responsibility that should be assumed by everyone. He highlighted the effective role played by Bahrain in backing efforts led by allied countries to maintain stability in the region.

The Prime Minister also lauded the role played by the British experts in Bahrain’s nation-building and development march.

Meanwhile, voicing pride in the long-standing Bahraini-British relations, Ambassador Martin expressed his country’s desire to open up wider horizons of bilateral cooperation, especially in the economic and investment fields.

He said that his country valued highly the government’s support to enhance bilateral cooperation, and was keen to develop cooperation with Bahrain in all fields.

He also commended the efforts exerted by Bahrain to achieve stability in the region.
