Manama Souq to set up multi-storey parking facility

Manama: To ease the parking issues at the Manama Souq, Manama Traditional Market Deputy Chairman Mahmood Al Namliti has called for setting up a new multi-storey car parking system at the Souq.

“While many steps have been taken in recent years to improve the parking facilities in the area, the visitors to the Souq are still suffering due to lack of parking spaces,” he said.

According to him, as the customers shy away from the Souq owing to parking issues, it’s a huge loss for the traders at the Souq.

Meanwhile, Al Namliti pointed out that the existing parking facilities implemented by Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Ministry, General Traffic Directorate and the Capital Secretariat in recent years has improved the situation considerably.

“The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities has also played a role in improving the facilities in the Souq. For the “Little India in Bahrain” project they have implemented parking facilities and more,” he explained.

“I thank the authorities for building a multi-storey parking facility in the Souq. It’s functioning smoothly. So I reckon, establishing one or two similar facilities will solve our parking issues forever,” Al Namliti added.
