MP Khalifa Al Ghanem has called for the government to design a national strategy, offering various activities for the youths during the summer period in order to encourage and pursue them by positively exploiting their energies and talents.
Mr Al Ghanem pointed out that he and other MPs would lodge a request to discuss the government's policy on backing the youths and providing them with relative centres and supportive programs throughout the year, mainly in the summer season.
"The responsibility of backing the youths and preserving them as well as investing their energies doesn't just lie on the shoulders of the Ministry of Interior or the Ministry of Youth and Sport Affairs, who currently carry out annual programs and projects for the youths during the summer. This duty must be considered a national responsibility as these programs aren't adequate to accommodate all the youths from both genders in the Kingdom of Bahrain," he said in a statement.
"The majority of the youths population don't participate in these programs, and it's very important to bring up more programs and projects in co-operation with other government entities," he added, stressing that the parliament would be exercising its monitoring role on all the state institutions that aren't fulfilling their duties in preserving the youths and protecting them.
He also highlighted the need of competent authorities to increases the public awareness on the absence of the family's role in embracing the youths.
