SWS karting action tomorrow

Manama: The third and final round of the 2015/2016 Bahrain SWS Endurance Championship takes place tomorrow and Saturday at the Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC) in Sakhir, and it is set to be a humdinger.

This will be a gruelling 24-hour challenge with no less than 18 teams battling it out along BIKC’s world-class 1.414-kilometre Commission Internationale de Karting (CIK) track and will be the ultimate test of driving skill, perseverance and teamwork, which includes a mix of international and Bahrain-based teams.

After winning the first two rounds in the series, Batelco Racing Team will be looking to secure a remarkable clean sweep of this year’s championship.

Standing in their way will be top challengers Al Zayani Investments, Zain Racing 1 and Zain Racing 2, Mahla BRM, EKT, BBK Racing, Ice Racing and BIC Media Club.

Other participating squads include Turkey Racing, Red Line Racing 1 and Red Line Racing 2, Bell Racing, Alkomed, PKE, Teambooknow.bh, and Overtake Racing 1 and Overtake Racing 2.

All teams will compete in identical 13-horsepower RT8 Sodikarts, provided by BIKC.

Aside from the overall winners, each team will also be competing for silverware in their respective competition categories.

These include the Professionals Cup, the Nations Cup and the Corporate category.

Registration is still open until tonight and  those interested in competing must contact BIKC on telephone +973-1745-1745 with teams consisting of a minimum of four drivers and a maximum being 10.

All participants must be aged 16 or above, both men and women of any nationality.

The 24-hour race begins tomorrow 4pm with the chequered flag.
