22 Drug Capsules Recovered From Suspect

An Asian man was arrested at a Bahrain airport after authorities received confidential information that he planned to smuggle drugs into the Kingdom concealed inside his body. An alert was issued to air entry points after investigations identified the suspect and his expected arrival.
The man was handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Directorate and admitted hiding the drugs inside his body. He was taken to a hospital, where 22 capsules were removed in two batches. Bahraini and Gulf currencies were also found in his possession.
Investigations linked him to an organised drug-trafficking network. The Public Prosecution charged him with importing and possessing narcotic drugs for trafficking and personal use. The High Criminal Court will issue its judgment on September 29.
