A 37-year-old driver stands accused of assaulting his 42-year-old co-worker during an argument, causing permanent hearing impairment.
According to case records, the dispute began while the two men were travelling in a company truck and later escalated at a traffic light and the company parking area.
The victim said the defendant struck him on the cheek and left ear before later slapping both ears with both hands.
A forensic examination found perforated eardrums and mild hearing loss in both ears, with the injuries assessed as causing 5% permanent disability.
The Public Prosecution charged the defendant with assault resulting in permanent disability without intent to cause it.
The High Criminal Court has set September 15 for the verdict.
