Initiative provides Bahraini youth with a platform to develop creative and technical skills in gaming and esports

The European University of Bahrain has concluded its Euro Game Jam 2026 initiative for gaming and esports, with the closing ceremony attended by Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Higher Education Council, along with government and private sector officials, parents, students and gaming and esports enthusiasts.

Dr. Juma highlighted the initiative as a successful example of cooperation between higher education institutions and emerging sectors, providing students and young people with practical opportunities to develop their skills and apply their knowledge in a competitive environment.

He affirmed the Higher Education Council’s support for such initiatives, which contribute to developing higher education pathways in line with global developments and national development priorities. He also noted their role in transforming the talents and creative ideas of Bahraini youth into opportunities in technology, innovation and digital industries.

The Minister praised Euro Game Jam 2026 as an engaging platform that enables Bahraini youth to utilise their creative and technical skills, noting that participants demonstrated a strong ability to keep pace with global developments.

He added that such initiatives open new educational and professional opportunities for young people and strengthen their readiness for the labour market, in line with Bahrain’s vision of building a knowledge- and innovation-based economy.

For his part, Professor Andrew Nix, President of the European University of Bahrain, said the support of the Ministry of Education and the Higher Education Council for such initiatives contributes to enhancing the quality of education and ensuring that it keeps pace with future requirements.

He noted that the initiative was launched as part of developments in school curricula following the Ministry of Education’s introduction of the Gaming 100 book for secondary school students.
