Gulf Audit Officials Discuss Stronger Oversight Cooperation

Bahrain chairs GCC meeting on financial audit, accounting development and AI-powered oversight platform

Bahrain’s Financial and Administrative Audit Bureau chaired the 27th meeting of GCC Assistant Undersecretaries of Financial Audit Institutions, held via video conference.

The meeting was chaired by Faiq Ali Dhaif, Assistant Undersecretary for Financial Audit at Bahrain’s Financial and Administrative Audit Bureau, who welcomed representatives from GCC audit authorities.

Dhaif said Bahrain’s hosting of the meeting reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening coordination and cooperation among GCC oversight bodies, enhancing professional ties, and exchanging expertise and experiences to further develop financial audit and accounting practices across the region.

The meeting reviewed several key topics on the agenda, including preparations for the seventh GCC Research and Studies Competition in the fields of auditing and accounting, as well as a report on recommendations from the winning research papers of the sixth edition of the competition.

Participants also discussed a project to establish an artificial intelligence-supported digital platform that would include the outcomes of the work carried out by GCC financial audit and accounting institutions.

The officials reviewed a report by the GCC General Secretariat on training programmes conducted during 2025 and 2026, along with upcoming activities planned by GCC audit bodies as part of the Gulf Financial and Administrative Audit Week.

The meeting also discussed the proposed agenda for the 23rd meeting of GCC heads of financial audit and accounting institutions, scheduled to take place in September.

The participants reaffirmed the importance of strengthening cooperation and integration among GCC oversight authorities, while promoting the exchange of professional expertise and best practices to enhance audit systems and support joint Gulf action.
