Little Municipalities Village wraps up third edition in Riffa
The Southern Municipality concluded yesterday the third edition of its "Little Municipalities Village" event, held over a week at Oasis Mall in Riffa, in co-operation with the Southern Municipal Council and the mall, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote environmental awareness among children and instil a culture of public cleanliness and recycling through a range of educational activities.
The week-long event, which ran daily from 4pm to 8pm, followed the success of its previous edition and the municipality's participation in the Bahrain International Agriculture and Livestock Exhibition, "Maraya."
The event aimed to instil positive environmental behaviours in children through a mix of educational and entertainment experiences, introducing them to the importance of preserving public facilities, encouraging them to sort and recycle waste, and reinforcing good habits around public cleanliness, in line with Law No. 10 of 2019 Concerning Public Cleanliness, in a way that promotes a culture of community responsibility and civic practice.
The programme featured a full line-up of interactive and educational activities, including waste sorting and recycling competitions, drawing and colouring sessions, puppet theatre shows, face painting, and origami paper-folding, alongside balloon giveaways, and awareness workshops and talks held in co-operation with the Interior Ministry's General Directorate of Media and Security Culture and General Directorate of Civil Defence.
Bahraini actor Bassam Ali hosted a games and prizes segment on Monday, July 13, at 5pm, adding to the entertainment on offer throughout the week.
The Southern Municipality thanked the families and children who took part, saying the event's varied programme combined entertainment with education, helped build environmental awareness, and reinforced values of public cleanliness and sustainability, in support of efforts to build a more environmentally conscious and responsible community.
